We’re building Backstitch MicroFarm!

Building a farm and a life sometimes feels like taking one step back, then two steps forward…

…and that’s why we love the name Backstitch MicroFarm! Sewists know that the backstitch is an extremely durable, sturdy stitch. Sometimes life, like a backstitch, forces us to step back before we can move forward stronger…together.

Our goal is simple:

To live and to love our small patch of New England, and all of the creatures, possibility, and beauty that abounds here. We take things one day at a time. Sometimes, we take them one moment at a time…especially when we’re dealing with a fence-climbing ten-month-old Great Pyrenees named Willow.

This year, we grew more tomatoes than most people - not us- can handle. We grew flowers and pumpkins, herbs and asparagus. Next year, we have plans to expand on our .91 acre plot, but mostly to learn about the new crops we plant, to refine the ones we have, and to appreciate all that the earth gives us.
